POSTING for Sunday, May 5th - Saturday, May 18th, 2024 〰️
Dear Facebook family, Ingrid and I moved through two of the most challenging months of our lives this new year. We want to connect with you transparently about our journey. Consider, today, the idea of UNENDING LIFE. We were born to live, live to die, and die to live again.
My niece and her precious husband of just under seven years said goodbye for the last time on Earth on the last day of February. What an incredible relationship we experienced through them. Their short span of marriage required the depth and quality that many couples never attain in decades of married life. By their second anniversary, they realized that getting a diagnosis of his memory issues was imperative. Who knew about Lewy Body Dementia? With no one leading the path ahead, outside of the Holy Spirit whom they both possessed, they bravely moved by faith into their future, seeking and applying the knowledge they amassed and reaching deep into themselves to find the real goods (love tools) needed to sustain and enrich their journey. They allowed God to show His footprints in BOLD MARKINGS all over their legacy of love. It’s not how long we are in the marriage but rather the intentional investment we make while in it.
One month later, in April (our anniversary month), Ingrid’s only biological sister and her beloved companion faced being separated here on earth; however, BOLDLY MARKING GOD’S FOOTPRINTS on the 57+ years span of their legacy of love. For them, the legacy was 7+ years of renewal and refreshing, reborn through genuine repentance, forgiveness, and total transparency, as her beloved committed his life to Jesus Christ and got to know God in that “Better Way”. The realities of the measure of our marriage once again challenge Ingrid and me.
Each of us was BORN to LIVE, not merely for ourselves, but so we can affect the lives of others for the better! Starting with our spouse, let’s follow Christ’s footprints. As in Acts 10:38, “Everywhere Jesus went, He was doing GOOD!” His lifestyle becomes our model - relationally, socially, and spiritually.
That's what friends are for.
[We will feature both couples mentioned above in next month’s publication, "Marriage is 4 Real People".
This newest book is our 1st publication together. It is the culmination of 29 posts from our
anniversary Facebook Project in 2023 {January 1 ~ July 16}. Plan to get your copy first.]
