Otoniel is a Caribbean-born native. He is affectionately called “Oto” by his close family and friends and is the youngest published author in the W.E. Hutchinson (WEH) family!

Oto’s Abuela, the 1st author of the WEH Family, encouraged him to take on this project.
It’s on the heels of his Abu (short for grandfather in Spanish) writing his first solo-authored book, which has been translated into 4 languages.
Hailing from the picturesque 32 square miles of an island that once belonged to the Danish government, this young author once shared with his mamá, “I KNOW A LOT OF WORDS, AND I CAN USE THEM, BUT I DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY MEAN.” [Side Note: If you want the joke on that one, read “Stuck in My Gut: A Belly Full of Laughs” (Join the Laughter series)—pages 7-8, his Abuela’s 3rd book.] This Charlotte Amalian from St. Thomas has a rich heritage and is continuing the legacy of authorship in his familial community.
Otoniel's literary authoring journey commences with the book “GOING TO MY HAPPY PLACE” / “YENDO A MI LUGAR FELIZ".
In the 2025-2026 school year, he was inducted into the National Elementary Beta Club chapter at his school. Otoniel is the first of the WEH Family to be inducted into the Beta Club so early in his educational journey. He also “had the HIGHEST growth in i-Ready Reading than any of [the] other students”. Because of that, he was awarded $100 from his teacher for “having the highest growth” in his class. Otoniel Isacar Akio went on to tell his teacher that he was going “to share [his award] with the 2nd place person who lost by one point”.

Whitbourne Emanuel is a native-born Caribbean from
Jamaica, West Indies. With 50-plus years of marriage and ministry,
he continues to do what God has anointed him to execute.
Whitbourne is the second child of Ferdinand and Vincelita Hutchinson.
He was delivered on Thursday, January 25, 1945, marked with the unique quality of the pursuit of excellence. Whitbourne relocated to New York City in 1967 on a student visa, pursuing certification in photography and cinematography at Germain School of Photography. He completed his studies, and God’s favor opened doors to employment on Wall Street at Dempsey Tegeler as a mail clerk. His interest in learning led to him being
in-house trained in computer operation.
These advancements came with challenges, which only seemed to propel Whitbourne forward. His love for God remained his anchor, and God ordered his steps. He served faithfully in the East New York Church of God of Prophecy in just about every department, including choir director, youth director, public relations, and transportation. He was licensed in ministry (1973) and eventually appointed to statewide positions. Positions and titles speak only a tiny part of the story; the rest is manifested in service. During this tenure, Whitbourne acquired his associate's, bachelor's,
and master’s degrees.
After forty years of pastoral ministry, he was appointed to serve internationally as Regional Presbyter for the Northeast Caribbean area (now the Paragon Region) for ten years (five of which were dually shared with pastoral work.) Whitbourne retired from appointed ministry as of Monday, August 31, 2020, to fulfill the rest of his life as patriarch to his family and God’s called-out servant leader.
Whitbourne wedded the love of his life, Ingrid Ann Pole, on Wednesday, April 18, 1973, in Brooklyn, New York. Ingrid is the last offspring of Arnold and Rita Pole, born on the Ides of March (Thursday, March 15, 1951). Tuesday, April 18, 2023, marked their 50th Wedding Anniversary (GOLDEN), publicly celebrated on Friday, July 21, 2023, in Atlanta, Georgia!!
He is the father of eight biological children, three of whom departed this life within minutes of their birth. In order of their birth, the five remaining adult offspring are Vietta Ann, Venere Emanuel (deceased in 2015, at age 40), Verona Celeste, Deborah Vania, and Daniel Vaughn. He is also abuelo to four grandchildren: Cristiánn Ai, Yasmín Azusa, Orlando Emanuel Akeno,
& Otoniel Isacar Akio.

She is the youngest of four children born to Daniel Arnold Pole and Rita Celestine Breedy Pole. She was born on the island of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, arriving on Thursday, March 15, 1951. Ingrid is the wife of Whitbourne Emanuel Hutchinson of Jamaica, West Indies.
She is the proud mother of seven (including two sets of twins).
From her earliest recollection, Ingrid desired to teach and formally began her career in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York (P.S. 256 on Kosciusko Street). She earned her A.S. from Tomlinson College (TC) {Cleveland, Tennessee} and her B.S. from Michigan State University (MSU) {East Lansing, Michigan}. She went on to earn two master’s degrees from the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) {St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands} and Pensacola Christian College (PCC) {Pensacola, Florida}, respectively.
The 2023 publication date of Shades of Purple: DECADES of My Life, Volume 3 denotes one Biblical generation (40 years) from its actual history. God’s Word is full of references to the significance of generational milestones.
This year has been a phenomenal one! In July, Whitbourne and I celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary (Tuesday, April 18, 2023), and our first granddaughter, Cristiánn Hutchinson, graduated from the University of West Georgia (UWG). Her graduation was the day following our anniversary celebration; how is that for excellent synchronization?!
She made acquiring a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Marketing degree with certification in Advertising and Real Estate, completed in 2.5 years by age 20, look simple instead of complicated.

She is a remarkable product of the legacy represented by our posterity:
Adult Offspring - Vietta Ann Hutchinson Charles, Venere Emanuel (deceased), Verona Celeste, Victor Emanuel and Vincent Emanuel (deceased – twin set #1), & Deborah Vania and Daniel Vaughn (twin set #2); Grandchildren: Cristiánn Ai, Yasmín Azusa, Orlando Emanuel Akeno, & Otoniel Isacar Akio.
We chose Venere’s birthday (July 21st) as the celebration date as he is the only offspring that would physically miss the celebration due to his passing on Monday, December 21, 2015. The entire family agrees that he was a “generational giant”. He was brilliant, a keeper of the family flame,
and a defender of the cause!!!
We know that God has a purpose in everything we experience
and raised an Ebenezer to God as we declared, like the Prophet Samuel,
“…Hitherto hath the LORD helped us” (I Samuel 7:12b).
Ingrid declares, “If there is no pain, there can be no reason for praise.”
Hence, it propels her to levels of service and a determination to build a
“Legacy of Love” globally and within her family.

My sister, Jeanette, and brother-in-law Carroll, who were sister and brother to us both, bid farewell to the love of her life in early April. They had "a remarkable 57+ years of marriage, just shy of the 59 years our parents had been married." Our dear friend Marcella said goodbye to David in mid-May, her spouse and ministerial partner of 44+ years. A journey is usually an experience to remember. The mode of transportation and the surrounding scenery paints pictures that define the travel. We sometimes fly, drive, walk, skip, run, hop, and even crawl from one point to the other, carrying with us the experience of that movement through time and space. I have chosen to express my life’s journey through Shades of Purple. This journey is almost seven decades of living color and extraordinary hues. You will travel with me through the “lilac” of my life when innocence prevailed, and I felt the sense of dictating my surroundings. The decade depicted by Açai, a deep, dark shade, follows. The Açai decade is when it seemed as if the sun would not shine again. Decade three, represented by the African Violet, springs forward. With this, it brings love, hope, commitment, and fulfillment unimaginable. Each of us is a unique creation bursting into the world with purpose and destiny. Let the world hear your journey.
I share this journey in three volumes. Sharing my journey is my way of inspiring you to share yours, in word (written or spoken), song, art, dance, etc., and most of all, in a life lived intentionally and strategically. I decided to make mother and daughter cruises with our three daughters, beginning with the eldest. In 2015, on returning from my second journey, our eldest son (second child) died. This exodus marked my understanding of deliberate relational strategies. My 2016 cruise fulfilled this special cruising schedule. The front cover of this book is a picture captured on that cruise. Journeys are life-changing, and I am so excited to offer my life’s excursion to the world. You will see familiar places and faces, experience familiar words and spaces. You are the only person that can live your unique experience and build a legacy for those who travel behind you and with you. Your journey will give credence to those who came before you as well. As a unique piece of life’s puzzle, each of us will make the entire whole more meaningful. Let us travel and enjoy the voyage.
Journeying involves time and place, people and space. Any journey is linked closely to relationships, and we must make sure to remember that "People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you'll know exactly what to do" (Michelle Ventor).
I choose to express my life's journey through Shades of Purple. In this volume, you will experience the soul of relationships. This leg of my seven decades of living color journey and extraordinary hues has been overflowing with adventure. The carousel picture on the front cover, taken by my daughter while we cruised, captures the idea of the ups and downs and rounds and rounds of life. You will move with me through laughter and tears, learning principles of initiating and maintaining relationships, as well as releasing some of them.
Volume 1 walked us through decades one and two, while Volume 2 will drive us through my third decade of life. This decade flourishes with life. Our first three children were born, and we relocated several times between the Caribbean and the mainland United States. Our vocations are a part of the added dimensional life, and we begin to face challenges before unheard of, including the death of our twin boys.
I share my journey in several volumes and have tentatively scheduled the release of Volume 3 in July '22. This love project is my way of inspiring you to share your journey. Each of us has a unique one. Share in song, art, dance, and word (written or spoken) and most of all, in a life lived strategically and intentionally. Journeys are life-changing, and I am ecstatic to offer my life's excursion to the world.

Ingrid Ann Pole Hutchinson declares part of The Lord’s Prayer or Matthew 6:9b-12, “…Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us” (Versions of The Lord's Prayer). Thus, it is not that forgiveness must be an intricate part of our journey. I choose to express my life’s journey through Shades of Purple. In Volume 3, you will experience the ongoing heart of forgiveness. Through my perspective, you will learn the basic principles of forgiving individuals and systems. True FREEDOM is always a gift received by those who choose to forgive.
The breath of life that we inhale and exhale is the person of the Living God of Heaven---who is a Spirit! He desires personal, divine intimacy with Him. As I worship Him in the times set apart to meet just for us, I have had experiences, some of which brought tears of joy and produced audible two-way verbal conversations. Yes! God wants us to fellowship with Him. It is my prayer that you will have such ongoing experiences in your relationship with the Holy God of Heaven. This Holy Spirit helps us share the “Good News” of Jesus! His breath in me is LIFE!
We don’t laugh enough, and our body is actually waiting for us to release healing chemicals through laughter. Endorphins are “…hormones secreted within the brain and nervous system having a number of physiological functions. They are peptides which activate the body’s opiate receptors, causing an analgesic effect” (Endorphins definition). Laughter is a natural pain killer; it strengthens the heart, wards off disease, tones your abs, boosts immunity, decreases blood pressure, banishes stress, and helps those suffering from depression” (Laughter info).
In November 2022, at 71 years old, I became pregnant with the book, Stuck In My Gut: A Belly Full of Laughs. I delivered the rough draft in three days, two of which I spent traveling for the funeral of my mentor. I am so THANKFUL for this opiate of laughter. I trust you will embrace the quotes, illustrations, and snippet summaries that will forever live in my memory and on the written page.
