POSTING for Sunday, December 24th, 2023 - Saturday, January 6th, 2024 〰️
Dear Facebook friends, we WISH YOU A BLESSED CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS & PEACEFUL NEW YEAR. “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, KJV). Sunday, January 1, 2023, began our obedience to include our global family in our Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration. Today, we are committed to ending the year with the same enthusiasm and candor as we reflect on God’s call to our “Marriage Wellness Journey”. The word for this current conversation is RECYCLE.
Recycling, as a national program, was not always in place. “In the 1800s, there were no blue recycling bins, no sorting, no recycling trucks rumbling down the alley. Recycling as we know it didn’t exist. But people were way better at it.” 'People recycled far more than we do now,' says Susan Strasser, author of Waste and Want: A Social History of Trash" (When Did Americans Start Recycling?).
Recycling has the concept of “waste and want” built into it. Can we perhaps learn an important relationship lesson here? Too often, I believe we skip through our relationship of marriage as if it’s a fast-food, happy meal. We assume its value without taking time to inspect, savor, or appreciate it; then, we throw away the refuse without a second thought.
